History Of The Department Of Applied Biochemistry
The Department of Applied Biochemistry, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka was originally established in 1982 by Prof. Godson Osuji in the defunct Anambra state University of Science and technology (ASUTECH 1980-1991). Following the creation of Anambra State in 1991 and the take over from the state by the Federal Government, the department evolved to its present status. The name Applied Biochemistry was derived from the original concept of the University of Technology, to train graduates in Biochemistry who are amenable to the demands of Biochemistry in Agriculture, Biotechnology, Medical sciences and Industry. The department relocated from the temporary site in Awka metropolis to the science village (permanent site) of the University in 2006.
